New Year’s Resolutions For Cats

January 1, 2020

Happy New Year! Are you setting resolutions for 2020? If so, your kitty will be right there with you, purring you on as you strive to make your new goals. If Fluffy could set her own resolutions, what do you think she would want to achieve this year? A Pelham, ON vet lists some pawsibiliteies below.

Sleep

Our feline friends are champion nappers, capable of sleeping up to 20 hours a day. (We’re not entirely convinced that kitties actually need that much sleep, but that’s another topic.) Fluffy may want to beat her 2019 napping record this year. Or, she may experiment with new napping spots or positions.

Work On My Ambush Attacks

Kitties are very playful, especially when they are young. Many cats love to hide behind doors or walls, and then run out as their unsuspecting owners pass by. Fluffy may want to work on her stealth skills this year.

Find My Toys

Do you sometimes find a small mountain of cat toys under the couch when you move it? Fluffy may want to figure out where all of her catnip mice went!

Purrfect Pounces

Kitties are very skilled hunters by nature, and are instinctively driven to want to pounce and jump on things. Help Fluffy make this goal by playing with her regularly. Just don’t let her practice on you!

Finish Training The Human

Does your kitty have you trained to feed or pet her on demand? Does Fluffy wake you up every morning to let you know she wants breakfast right meow ? If not, your furry overlord may want to work on your training this year.

Soak Up Some Sun

Cats will sleep pretty much anywhere, but they’re particularly fond of snoozing in sunbeams. Fluffy doesn’t actually run on solar power, but we aren’t sure if she has realized that quite yet. Your pet may want to catch some more rays this year!

Help Around The House

Fluffy is very appreciative of the love, care, food, toys, catnip, beds, cuddles, and attention you give her. She may try to show her gratitude by helping with tasks like packing suitcases, changing the sheets, wrapping gifts, and, in some cases, catching mice.

Please contact us, your local Pelham, ON vet clinic, anytime. We look forward to helping you keep your furry buddy healthy and purring in 2020 and for many years to come!
